Sheffield United midfielder Stephen Quinn posted the highest score in the Coca-Cola Championship Actim Index over the festive period. The Irishman bagged 53 points in the come-from-behind 3-1 win over Charlton at Bramall Lane. Quinn netted twice and also had 12 passes and four crosses. It leaves him 14th in the Index with a combined score of 348.
Nicky Maynard rediscovered his scoring touch to steer Bristol City to six points out of nine over Christmas and New Year. After just four goals in 24 league and cup games, the striker registered four in three games which saw wins over London duo Watford and Crystal Palace. His display against Watford earned his a second-high 52 points and put him in 137th place (204 points).
Iceland striker Heidar Helguson has warmed the hearts of the QPR fans with some slick performances. Helguson, signed on a permanent basis from Bolton, posted 50 points in a two-goal display in the 3-2 win over Preston – the third highest over the festive programme – which put him in 317th with a score of 98.
Reading striker Kevin Doyle stretched his lead in the Index by a further four points. After scoring in the excellent 3-1 win at Birmingham, Doyle was blanked as the Royals were held by Cardiff and Southampton. Team-mate Stephen Hunt remains second after accumulating 58 points over the past three games.
Two goals in three games helped Burnley striker Martin Paterson move into the top 10 – despite only seeing his side claim one win over the festive period. Paterson posted 69 points – including 31 in the 2-1 defeat at struggling Doncaster – to help move him into seventh in the Index with 384 points.
Young Nottingham Forest striker Joe Garner has a festive period to remember. He scored in the 2-0 win at Southampton and also in the 4-2 home loss by Doncaster which prompted the sacking of manager Colin Calderwood. Garner then netted an own goal as Forest beat Norwich 3-2 at Carrow Road and was on target in the stunning 3-0 FA Cup victory at Manchester City. He sit 185th in the Index (174).
